The "Sahara" part of the name was dropped in 1962 after the conclusion of the Algerian War as Citroën had to distance the model's marketing from what used to be France's North African colonies.

Interior wise, the dashboard was updated to be fitted with a speedometer mounted on the pod, a central wiper motor and a plastic cover below the windscreen covering it.

Front doors were changed from suicide doors to a more conventional configuration.
