SB2 was revealed at Bologna Motor Show '1976.

The designation SB2 indicated S for Suzuki, B for Bimota, and 2 for the second series of Bimota with a Suzuki engine.

Of the 200 frames manufactured a total of 140 SB2 kits were built. Of the 60 remaining frames 30 were used for the successive SB280 and the remaining 30 were destroyed. Only two kits were sold in Australia.

Unveiled in Milan in 1978 and designed by Massimo Tamburini, the KB1 was built in 827 examples all sold as a kit. Just 16 KB1 were sold already assembled.

The KB1 was introduced in 1978 as Bimota’s second street-legal motorcycle, after the Suzuki-based SB2 was introduced earlier that year. The KB1 utilized Kawasaki’s 1015cc KZ1000 engine with extra tuning to give 84 HP at 7,950 RPM.
